Exploring the backcountry requires a refuge - and our three person Boreas Tent can provide one. It features a truly unique pole structure, making the tent sturdier and stronger for its weight. The Boreas offers ultimate four season* hiking freedom and a dependable base for exploring the surrounding countryside. *Our four season rating is based on 'normal' NZ and Australian seasons, but product testing has shown this tent may not be suitable for some people in very cold winter climates, and not recommended as an alpine tent. Always make sure you are well prepared for all your hiking and camping adventures with suitable clothing, sleeping bag and mat, and a full repair kit!.

Happy hiker

"1st bought one of these 8 years ago, now I have 2. Good ventilation, roomy and wind and water tight."

Great tent

"Superhero strong and waterproof. Big inside too"

Ryan O. (5/5)

Amazing little tent

"I have already had this tent a few years now and it’ has certainly proved itself. In strong wind it hardly moves. Many people comment how other tents have totally come down in bad weather but this one hardly gets affected . In consistent heavy rain it’s stayed dry. . It has plenty of room to move for my solo trips . I honestly wouldn’t know what it be like with more than one. Over all a fabulous little tent. Worth every dollar."

Kelly D. (5/5)

Perfect for two people and hiking packs

"Perfect size for two people with hiking packs! Light weight, small, warm but plenty of ventilation and a really cool shape"

Toni R. (5/5)

Fly needs more UV protection

"I am disappointment I have to give such a poor review, as this tent has been fabulous. Easy to put up, the poles are strong yet light weight, and weather tight until now. Brought 15 months ago, so just out of warranty! our fly has gone like paper and has uncountable rips and tears in it. No spare fly's in NZ . So have to buy a whole new tent at my cost."

I love my Boreas festival tent!

"I bought my first Boreas 3-person tent a whole 7 years ago now to replace my previous hiking tent (which was bought in the UK and way too small for festivalling in!) While it is something of a tattered and unwaterproof wreck now (all the years of weather damage has taken its toll!) I am keen to buy another Boreas tent to keep on going with my festival-filled summers. This tent was such a delight to put up for the first time (it's so logical and easy to do!) and to crawl inside and feel all the space around me as a lone camper. The vestibles and doors on both sides means that if you share this tent, everyone has sovereignty and can come and go as they please. Also, with the twin vestibles, even when the fly is all zipped up, there is a pocket of free-flowing air on both sides with some decent airflow. On a fine night, it is delicious to peg out the vestibles but have the zips on the fly both open so that air can flow right through the tent all night long. . . The waterproofing failed after about four years of fairly intensive use, so instead of buying a new fly I decided to spend the $10 on a can of waterproofing spray which seem to have worked! At 4kg, this would work for a hiking team of three sharing the load, but for me, this fairly hefty tent has been my best friend, refuge and castle - packed into a suitcase, with a re-purposed groundsheet cut from an old airbed keeping the floor neat and tidy. Huzzah! Such a great festival tent for a solo traveller. Of course I would love to have a standing height tent at a festival, but can't afford the weight of such a thing, and thus this roomy deluxe cabin with the gorgeous light-filled lemon glow on the inside is good enough for me! Buying another one in time for the end of the Pandemic crisis. . ."

Reasonable tent for sale price.

"This tent is suitable for our use - we were after a light enough hiking tent to use for 2 (smallish adults) and 2 young children. It has good internal storage as far as pockets go, but the vestibule space is not very big. Also, if it is raining you can't open the tent without getting rain inside. We only bought this as a medium term solution for hiking - we don't go out in bad weather with the young kids, and we don't go far so it is fit for purpose at the moment. The most annoying thing about it is the repair kit. It comes with a range of non-adhesive patches and no glue. So don't get caught out like we did thinking we had a 'repair kit' for the tent. Luckily duct tape did the job. . . (sometimes kids, sticks and lightweight tents are an unfortunate combination."

Nat S. (4/5)

Good quality for reasonable price.

"Good hiking tent, easy to assemble. Enough space for 2 adults and 2 small kids. Pegs could be improved though, as they could snap if too much pressure put on."

Hike N. (5/5)

Lasted the distance

"Have has this for 5 years now. Have used a few multi-day hikes as well as a number of long road trips and the odd weekend away. It has survived many rainy nights, strong winds and 2 intense storms. You do have to think about the direction you face the tent if in windy conditions. 5th year of ownership and have only just had 2 poles snap. But easy to buy replacement and swap out the damaged section. Highly recommend to anyone needing a great light weight tent. Also fits 2 adults and 2 kids under 3 easy."

Eliza B. (5/5)

Great little tent

"We love the features of this tent inparticular the storage pockets, air vents that can still be used while raining, & the design of the tent pegs. This tent was purchased for my husband to use with our son but I think the 4 of us (2 adults and 2 under 5's) could use it for a night away. The one thing that was unfortunate was our kids kept standing on the pegs and hurting their feet on them. We might have to look at covering them somehow."
